Before we started even eating in a more natural/organic way, my husband’s oncologist encouraged us to take a look at the household chemicals we were using around the house. (He had been battling a rare auto immune blood disease). Almost right away we starting cutting out many commercial cleaners. But I am very germ conscious, so I wanted to make sure what I was going to use would actually get the job done. After reading quite a few articles, I soon found out that some of the items I already had in my pantry were just as effincent if not better at getting rid of all those nasty germs if not better! But without all those harmful chemicals! So we have been trying many concoctions to find some we like.
Recently we used a credit I had on OpenSky to receive a kit to make your own cleaners. It essentially was a micro-fiber cloth, two spray bottles and a small bottle to mix cleaners. The cool thing about all the bottles is that the have a lemon juicer built right into the top of the bottle! No more lost juice or stickiness! It just juices right into the bottle. When we received them, both my kids were eager to give it a try. I put it on the shelf until I actually need to make some cleaners.
So we pulled these off the shelf grabbed some lemons, vinegar, water & Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap and started juicing! Well as you can see Austin eagerly took care of that part for me, being ever so cautious to make sure he was getting all the juice out.
Here are the super easy, inexpensive recipes for making your own window cleaner & surface disinfectant:
- 1/4 tsp of castile soap
- 3 tablespoons of vinegar
- 2 cups of water
Add the ingredients, then mix and give it a good shake and you should be ready to go!
- Juice of 1/2 of lemon
- 1 part vinegar (1 cup vinegar to 1 cup water)
- 1 part water
Add the ingredients and shake to mix thoroughly.
