Did you realize that May is National Celiac Awareness Month? Glutino does, as their company focuses on those with this particular illness! I celebrate companies that cater to smaller crowds with dietary restrictions. That is exactly what Glutino does by providing a variety of delicious, gluten free products!
I had seen Glutino products before and have purchased several of them, not due to dietary restrictions for myself but we love the products we have tried, my children especially like their pretzels! Depending on my budget and how much wiggle room we have, I will allow the children to pick a treat when we venture to Whole Foods or another smaller local(ish) Health Food Store-The Truck Patch. Austin reaches for the Glutino pretzels almost 50% of the time (Annie’s Gummy Bunnies, Late July Vanilla Bean Cookies or Salt & Vinegar Chips are also favorites).
I was very excited to get the opportunity to try out several of their products we hadn’t yet had the opportunity to. I received a box that contained three different yummy sweets: a bow of chocolate truffle brownie mix, chocolate wafers and vanilla creme cookies. The first product we tried were the chocolate wafers, and they were truly yummy! They were crisp and very chocolatey, similar to a Kit Kat! These were the kids favorite by far, but of course Addie loves anything chocolate so that is a given.
Bryan got to the vanilla cream cookies long before I realized. When I went to open the package, only one row was left (talk about mid-night snacking). The kids and myself tried one and yes they are very good. Exactly what you would expect from a vanilla creme cookie. The cookie itself is delicious and the creme is smooth and rich. Bryan said he expected them to taste like cardboard and was very surprised at how rich and delicious they actually were, obviously he enjoyed them.
For that don’t eat gluten-free or dairy-free when they see that label on a package, they tend to think you loose flavor and texture, but that is truly not the case with Glutino products. You don’t sacrifice anything! I haven’t yet gotten to try the brownie mix yet, as that was on my to-do lists Thursday and due to some unexpected circumstances nothing was done on Thursday. I will be sharing with you my experience with their Genius bread and a very delicious recipe for stuffing on Monday so I will be sure to update you on the brownies as well!
