My children are no longer infants, but my daughter who is two (34 months) is very petite for her age. Weighing only 24 pounds, I can still pretty easily wear her and truthfully she loves it! She was a baby that had severe dairy allergies and until we realized what the issue was, cried and was very discontent unless she was being held. Being that she and my son are only 18 months apart, that proved challenging as my son still needed a lot of my attention also.
A Perfect Solution!
Although I did not have theBabaSling at that time in her life (and I so wish I did) we tried several slings and successfully practiced the art of baby wearing. It can be a little tricky at first and truthfully a little intimidating as I was afraid I would somehow drop her but that never happened. I love that Joovy puts a lot of emphasis on safety and even offers “How-To” videos on their site so you can really see the proper way to wear your baby and the five different positions theBabaSling can be used in.
Addie truly preferred to be worn in front (Koala Cuddle), as opposed to my back but anything to free up my hands was great for me. TheBabaSling is what would be considered a Hammock Sling and is perfect to use from infancy (beginning at 7.7lbs) to create special bonding between parents and their new precious bundle.
I loved that I could breast feed while still using my sling so I could still be active while feeding my little ones. Although Addie stopped nursing three months ago, I can see just how easy it would be to breast feed very discreetly with theBabaSling.
This position is still good for Addie as she never gets tired of talking to Mama and she really wants me to look at her face while she is speaking to me (or kissing Mama). I guess it really shows that they imitate what we do as I tell her to look at my eyes when I am really trying to reach her heart. She loves this and for me, it distributes her weight more evenly.
With her size right now, this is the most comfortable position for Mama :) She really enjoys it also as she gets to take a fun ride with her arms and hands free. The Hammock style sling is perfect because it offers great support underneath her. I am totally comfortable and confident in wearing her, even at 24 pounds this way.
Here are a few other ways theBabaSling can be used:
If I were to wear Addie long enough, she would fall asleep in theBabaSling and it would support her so well. I even laid her inside to see how well it would hold her completely and she was very comfortable. I love that the shoulder strap is made to be worn on either side and with extra padding so you don’t get rubbed raw while wearing your little one.
I also am completely excited to share that theBabaSling from Joovy is also made of 100% Organic Cotton! They of course have many colors and designs you could choose, but I was so excited to receive theBabaSling Organic that comes in Natural. It takes on average a pound of pesticide to grow enough cotton to make an average t-shirt! I would not want to be wearing my baby in a chemical filled Sling, so Thank-you Joovy for looking out for the health of our little ones!
