Fall Family Fun at the Mountain Home Berry Farm Pumpkin Patch

This year the kids are old enough that I knew they would totally love a visit to a pumpkin patch.  We love pumpkins.  The big orange balls are full of delicious edible seeds and what will be beautiful pumpkin puree to turn into heavenly baked treated.  We usually pick up several pumpkins that we bake ourselves and then freeze into pumpkin puree.

With every trip to the store we are greeted with pumpkins in all various shapes and colors.  The kids enjoy picking out their own pumpkins but I knew that would enjoy it so much more to be able to actually pick their own.  We decided to take a day trip and visit the Mountain Home Berry Farm that has a pumpkin patch.  Not far from Mountain Home, AR is this very quaint and warm farm that in the fall offers hay rides, a mini petting zoo, a corn maze and a pumpkin patch.  They even had fall raspberries!

Once we parked we were greeted by the owner who relocated from Michigan.  The husband and wife owners were so sweet and helpful.  My brother-in-law grew up with his parents owning a cider mill so he was even asked to give his honest opinion on the cider at the Berry Farm.

There were pumpkins, gourds and squash in all shapes, sizes and colors.  The children loved every minute!  We used our time waiting to pick out some mini pumpkins before we took our hay ride.

The kids had so much fun with all the pumpkins while we waited for our turn on the hay ride.  I was able to snap a couple of really cute photos while they played.

Once we were loaded on the hay ride, I truly appreciated they actually covered the hay so we didn’t end up all itchy.  The kids loved the hay ride.  What is it that is so special about being pulled by a tractor and being in the cool autumn air?  Memories!

We stopped off at the petting zoo with two miniature horses and two donkeys.  They were very gentle and came right up to the children to be petted, brushed and fed.  As much as Addie loves animals she as unsure about these gentle animals.  They were so cute and Austin was all about getting his hands on them.

The mini corn maze was fun, full of options for the kids got to choose from.  Addie waited with her Aunt and Uncle while some of the others found their way out.

The final stop was at the pumpkin patch.  Oh, so many choices!   And they needed to look them all over to decide which they thought needed to come home with us.

At the end of the afternoon we had a blast!  We spent the afternoon in the beautiful outdoor air and had so much fun together.  We will be back to visit during berry picking season most definitely.  If you live in Northern Arkansas and have young children I would highly suggest visiting the Mountain Home Berry Farm.  Their Fall Festival will be operating until November 2nd and only cost $5 per person.

Did you visit a pumpkin patch this fall?

Your family is so cute! I love the fall pumpkin pics. We had a great time a couple weeks ago doing the farm thing and picking out pumpkins. Now that we are here in Indiana, they are having a fall festival at the end of the month. I think we’ll go to the local farm here and participate in more fall fun!
