February Photo A Day Challenge
Today on day 5 of the Instagram Photo a Day Challenge, it is fitting that I share one of my most favorite photo’s with you. My baby was born five years ago today. After 6 1/2 long days in labor, we was finally born. He was bruised and he was tired, after all the first hospital I was in did their best to stop his birth and it was very difficult on Mama and my baby.
When he was finally born at 11:28pm on February 5th, 2008 I was beyond exhausted. I was able to gently kiss his head which was very purple and we was whisked away. It was almost three long hours before I was able to visit him in the NICU due to my own complications.
I was not able to actually hold him until the following day when he breathing became more normal. This photo was taken when he was five days old and was the first day he was out of the incubator for most of the day.
They say you always forget just how difficult child birth really is as the time passes; I don’t necessarily agree. I know just how difficult of a time my dear Austin had that week just as I did. Was it easy? Absolutely not. Was it worth every moment? A hundred times over.
After Austin’s birth I was told I couldn’t have another. My Mother and Husband both agreed wholeheartedly. It had been a rough week on both them as well. Although I wanted to have another, I felt so very blessed with my bundle of joy. Little did I know that I would shortly be blessed again with a baby girl.
I firmly believe you do not understand the concept of love at first site until you become a Mother.
